What We Do

Mission Statement

For the glory of God and the salvation of souls, The Catholic Foundation inspires giving and stewards funds for the work of the Catholic Church throughout the Diocese of Lansing.

About

The Catholic Foundation of the Diocese of Lansing was incorporated in 2016. The Foundation’s purpose is to promote and build philanthropic support for the Roman Catholic Diocese of Lansing and its parishes and schools; to build long term financial stability for Catholic causes within the Diocese of Lansing; and to advance the Roman Catholic religion. The Foundation is governed by its Board of Directors, who are appointed by the Bishop of Lansing.

The Foundation accepts charitable gifts of financial support for the mission and ministries of the Diocese of Lansing.  These efforts include the annual Diocesan Services Appeal, diocesan-wide capital campaigns, special appeals for priorities of the Diocese, and donor designated gifts for the benefit of parishes, schools, other Catholic agencies and organizations.  Current and planned gifts provide for the present and future ministries of the Church.

As a participant in the National Catholic Investment Pool in partnership with the Michigan Catholic Conference, the Foundation manages the invested assets of the Diocese of Lansing and Catholic organizations in the Diocese. All funds entrusted to the Foundation are invested in accordance with the Socially Responsible Investment Guidelines for the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops and produce returns to support designated purposes and/or organizations.

The Catholic Foundation is an organized Michigan nonprofit corporation, and is a publicly supported charitable organization that is exempt from federal and state taxes under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code.
